Pediatric Chiropractic
At Rhinebeck Chiropractic, the doctors have completed postgraduate training from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, earning certification in the treatment of pediatric patients from infancy and through adolescence. We have seen hundreds of pediatric patients in our offices over the last decade, continuing to treat new patients each year. Though it’s not common for a child to experience back or neck pain, many children have what we call “secondary conditions” that can be treated and/or managed with chiropractic care.
Neuro-Spinal Shifts and Pediatric Chiropractic |
Perhaps without knowing it specifically, parents of pediatric patients come to us looking for the shifts in the spine that create a decrease in their child’s function from the child’s ability to breastfeed to chronic bed wetting to ADHD. If it is determined that the child has a neuro-spinal shift, we will select a technique appropriate for your child. This is always an approach with the lowest amount of force possible to make the correction. Usually, only a few ounces of pressure are applied, about the same amount of force required to check the ripeness of a tomato. |
We spend a great deal of time talking, playing, and interacting with your child to make her feel comfortable at the office and gain her trust, all the while observing her movement patterns and her subsequent needs for correction/care. With each child we do a comprehensive analysis and history, starting from conception through to present day. Our goal is to identify spinal, neuro-developmental and environmental factors that could be underlying or contributing to your child’s condition(s).
A Parent's RoleIt has always been important to us to include parents in each visit, helping allay fears of care on young ones so parents can feel empowered and assured they’ve made the right decision for their child(ren). For many of our parents, they come to us because of “secondary conditions,” for which we allow much time in our visit for questions, conversation, and education. More time still is allotted to explain our findings with you, as well as our plan of care. We understand your role as your child’s advocate and honor your involvement throughout all visits with your child.
