Pregnancy
Congrats! If you are reading this section, you are most likely expecting, or expecting to be expecting, and are interested in how chiropractic care could be beneficial during such a dynamic time. During pregnancy, chiropractic care is used to support the mom as her body changes (and it certainly changes dramatically). As such, your care will focus on stabilizing the spine, with special attention paid to the pelvis, as it shifts and widens, and as your baby grows inside of it.
A Different Approach for a Dynamic Time At Rhinebeck Chiropractic, the doctors have additional training and experience in caring for pregnant moms. Specialized examinations and adjustment techniques (typically low force) are utilized to make the process more comfortable and effective for the mom-to-be. You will note how appointments/focuses change with the stages of pregnancy as different issues and/or intentions arise (e.g. a first trimester appointment doesn’t look the same as an upcoming-birth-prep one). |
For the expectant mom, stresses on the spine increase as the baby grows. We will work to combat the physical stressors put on the spine (related to unfamiliar weight gain and changes in center of gravity), the chemical stressors (of new and/or changing hormone production), and the emotional stressors (that can come when life changes with the addition of a new baby). Other dynamic approaches to care, such as the use of Webster Technique, or a sacral analysis/adjustment, further work to restore balance and/or stabilize the spine, from the sacrum up! These whole-istic approaches, help moms live and move better in both pregnancy and birth!
In keeping with our whole-istic approach, our doctors are open to communicating with all persons involved with the mother’s birth. In this manner, everything from goals to concerns can be discussed, examined, and worked on throughout your pregnancy care.

Post-partum Care
After baby arrives, chiropractic is used to help the body recover (from birth) and adapt to the new, physical and emotional challenges of motherhood. Remember, changes are stressors on the spine, and it is our goal to help navigate the results of those stressors: to stabilize the spine, restore optimum function, and improve overall quality of life. If pregnancy wasn’t dynamic enough, the post-partum period adds another human (or multiple) to the playing field. It is in this time that our first-time-parent population gets to see-in-action our declaration that we are here for the whole person, in all stages of life, and the whole family!
